One Year Better!

This past Friday, I turned 41. Woohoo! When I look at the actual number, it looks wierd. Not a very significant number, per se but it's solid. If statistics prove right, I have a whole other half left to my life. The best part is I can make sense of what that can look like. The first few years of life are the foundational years and experiences and now it's about taking what I learned in the first half and making it better in the second. Thanking God for a great family, wonderful friends, work I enjoy, and plenty more memories to make, I look forward to being one year better!

Good News!

I heard from one of the expectant moms who is having problems with the pregancy that I wrote about below titled God can do what He says He can do.

Here's what she wrote: I want to thank you for all of your prayers and concerns. God is good and prayer works. I went to the doctor yesterday. He did his own tests and exams and said that the internal bleeding has stopped. Whatever the hospital saw doesn't seem to exist anymore. I have seen what great things God can do. I believe that he will take care of me through this time, as well. Please continue to keep us in your prayers.

She didn't read my blog but what a testimony to God's mighty and victorious right hand who does help us and uphold us. Keep praying!

God Can Do What He Says He Can Do

It's been a great couple weeks. I'm enjoying my children, my time with Russ and time with my friends and family and yet lately I've heard of some pretty hard things going on with people around me.

Some mom's are having severe problems with their pregnancies and marriages are splitting up. These are hard situations. Please pray with me that God will strengthen and comfort these people. You might be tempted to ask why should they believe that God would help them in all of this. In the Gen 18:9-15, Sarah and Abraham doubted that they could have a son at such an old age. Sara especially asked, "How could a worn out old woman like me have a son?" Why should have Sarah believed what he said? The messenger of God asked, "Is anything too hard for the Lord?" He then told her that a year from now he'll return and she will have a son. What confidence! Why?

If you read the beginning of that chapter, it says the Lord appeared again to Abraham. While he was camped, he suddenly noticed 3 men standing nearby. I find it so amazing how God chooses to reveal Himself. He appeard to Abraham in the form of 3 men. I like to think it was the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit but I'm not an expert in these things to say, but it's my thought. It was God Himself asking if anything was too hard for Him. He said and He did it. This is the confidence we can have in our God. God did it! What about these babies and marriages? What will He do? We don't know but there is something we can do and be confident in, even when things look terrible.

We can believe that God can do what He says He can do! We know what He has said he would do and believe is not too hard for Him. My prayer for these moms and hurting marriages is that they believe God when He said in Isaiah 41:10 "Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will uphold you with my victorious right hand." No matter what happens, you have God with you and He will uphold you. If your circumstances never change or creative miracles don't happen, God is with you and will help you and strengthen you. Believe God can do what He says He can do.
